Foursquare Greece

Founded in 1952 by Theodore Davis.

George Patsaouras has been instrumental in forming and leading the Greek Foursquare church. George was born into a Greek Orthodox family but was converted in 1964 under the ministry of Theo and Mary Davis. As a young man, he felt a call to ministry as he continued his law education, graduating from the Law School of Athens University as an attorney. He served as General Supervisor of the Foursquare Church in Greece and as pastor of the central church in Athens, a congregation numbering approximately 600. Their ministry produced a number of other Foursquare churches and meeting places throughout Greece. Margarita came to Greece from Puerto Rico with another single missionary woman. While they were ministering in Greece, she met George and married him in 1978. In addition to her own outstanding music ministry, Margarita ministered with her husband. They have two daughters. In January 2020 George passed away.

In February 2020 Antonis Dimitriades replaced George Patsaouras as pastor of the central Foursquare church in Athens. Antonis was born into a Greek Orthodox family but was converted in 1985 under the ministry of George Patsaouras. He has been married to Angeliki since 1989. Antonis felt a calling to ministry from the first steps of his christian life and he was serving as an elder in the Greek church as well as pastor of the Russian speaking church from 1996 till 2020.

Our Strategy to Reach the Nation

Exciting ministry opportunities abound in this nation that hosts people groups from Latin America, Poland, Bulgaria, Albania, Democracies of the Former Soviet Union.  The church has responded by pioneering works among these communities.

The national church has identified opportunities to work among the refugees and has already engaged by opening a branch at Ioannina in cooperation with another organization, and by hosting Ukrainian refugees.

Actively seeking new ways for evangelizing and reaching out to the people in Greece. After Covid-19 breakout we have seen the importance of developing a strategy for the utilization of digital streams and social media.

We have recognized the need to inspire, train and release leaders among the churches of Greece.
